Abstract

EDGE, Eye Gaze Data and Knowledge Gathering Engine is a website that is developed to collect eye movement behavior of Wikipedia readers. The readers choose their article and their  level of expertise in the domain of the chosen article for reading using a pervasive web camera. Although a web camera is used, neither video nor facial image of the reader is captured. Each instance of the dataset corresponds to a screen image and its corresponding gaze points. This gaze data can be processed to compute gaze tracking features, followed by feature engineering and training a model to predict the expertise level of a reader using supervised machine learning techniques.

Instructions:

Each instance in the dataset consists of Reader’s eye gaze data and the corresponding image. This gaze data can be further processed to analyse the gaze pattern. Reader expertise level is obtained from the reader for every reading session which serves to be the ground truth. Significant features can be drawn from this gaze data that enables one to implement supervised machine learning algorithms to predict the expertise of a reader in the domain with Gaze data from a pervasive web camera.
