Abstract

This data provides realized gain values for a handset operating at 28 GHz, with 3 4x1 linear antenna arrays placed around the handset along the right edge, bottom edge and back face of the handset. Beam steering was carried out at each of these antenna arrays and results for the handset with and without the hand phantom are included to show the effect that the introduction of the hand phantom has on the realized gain of the handset.

Instructions:

"No_Hand" folder provides realized gain results for the handset without the hand phantom. "With_Hand" folder provides realized gain results for the handset with the hand phantom. For both these folders the included files provide results for different beam steering configurations at each antenna array. The 3 antenna arrays were located along the right edge, bottom edge and back face of the handset. Take "farfield (f=28) [Back Ph45]" for example. This file would include the results for all 3 antenna arrays excited simultaneously with beam steering being carried out on the antenna array on the back face of the handset. "Ph45" corresponds to a phase step of 45 degrees, meaning that the phase is stepped up by 45 degrees for each antenna in the array (Antenna 1 = 0 degrees, Antenna 2 = 45 degrees, Antenna 3 = 90 degrees, Antenna 4 = 135 degrees). While excited the right and bottom antenna arrays will be excited in this instance, however no beam steering will be carried out at these arrays, i.e. no phase step. "Z" file represents the base handset configuration with all antenna arrays excited but no beam steering at any array.

"CDF" folder provides Cumulative Distribution Function results for the handset with 8 beam steering configurations both with and without the hand phantom.

Phase step in degrees of 8 beam steering configurations = -180, -135, -90, -45, 45, 90, 135, 180.

"Back Antenna Array Beams" = CDF results when beam steering is carried out on back antenna array. (Other arrays are still excited,no beam steering).

"Right Antenna Array Beams" = CDF results when beam steering is carried out on right antenna array. (Other arrays are still excited, no beam steering).

"Bottom Antenna Array Beams" = CDF results when beam steering is carried out on bottom antenna array. (Other arrays are still excited, no beam steering).

"All Beams" = CDF results for all beam steering configurations at each array.

"Combined Beams" = CDF results showing combined results of all 24 beam steering configurations.

"No Beam Steering" = CDF results with all arrays excited and no beam steering at any array.
