Abstract

This data is the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) F(50,50) signal strength variation curves for the Very High Frequency (VHF) Channel 7-13 and the Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Channel 14-69. The signal strength for both curves is in dBuV/m for an Effective Radiated Power (ERP) per dipole of 1 kW. All data are based on a 9 m mobile antenna height measurement for 30 m to 600 m antenna heights within a transmitter-receiver separation ranging from 1.5 km to 100 km.

The .xlsx file is separated into three sheets. The first and second sheets have the same structure, where the first column is the transmitter-receiver separation (d) in kilometers. The first-row heading is the transmitter antenna height (Tx) in meters, and the signal strength readings are from the second column-second row to the fourteenth column. All the data are readings directly made from the F(50,50) curves.

Converting the signal strength variation into a loss (dB), we proposed a propagation loss model given by the expression L = A + C1 d + C2 log10(d). The third sheet provides the coefficient C1 and C2 variations for the respective VHF and UHF bands.

Instructions:

Instructions for the 1st and 2nd sheet

1. The first row gives the transmitter antenna height in meter (m) (30 to 600 m)

2. The first column provides the transmitter-receiver separation in kilometer (km) (1.5 km to 100 km)

3. The second row-second column to the rest of the column gives the signal strength variations in dBuV/m for an effective radiated power per dipole of 1 kilowatt (1kW)
