RPL is the de-facto IPv6-based routing protocol for the Internet of Things (IoT), where networks are mainly formed by sensors and other low capacity devices. However, RPL lacks scalability and is inefficient in any-to-any communications. In this letter, we present IoTorii, a layer-two hierarchical protocol that creates routes based on a probe frame, instead of the computation of a distance vector protocol, as in RPL.

The fifth-generation cellular networks (5G)has been proposed as a solution for the accelerating growth in data traffic. As part of 5G, millimetre-wave (mmWave) is suggested as one of the potential spectrum candidates due to the vastly available bandwidth. Accordingly, both indoor and outdoor propagation measurements on mmWave have been widely conducted over the recent years. These field measurements were heavily dependent on utilizing expensive channel-sounders and tools.

With the popularity of smartphones and widespread use of high-speed Internet, social media has become a vital part of people’s daily life. Currently, text messages are used in many applications, such as mobile chatting, mobile banking, and mobile commerce. However, when we send a text message via short message service (SMS) or social media, the information contained in the text message transmits as a plain text, which exposes it to attacks.

This paper describes a set of 300 pseudo-random task graphs which can be used for evaluating Mobile Cloud, Fog and Edge computing systems. The pseudo-random task graphs are based upon graphs that have previously appeared in IEEE papers. The graphs are described in Matlab code, which is easy to read, edit and execute. Each task has an amount of computational work to perform, expressed in Mega-cycles per second. Each edge has an amount of data to transfer between tasks, expressed in Kilobits or Kilobytes of data.

The frequency domain measurement of the scattering parameter, S21, of the wireless channel was carried out using the ZVB14 Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) from Rhode and Schwartz. The measurement system consists of the VNA, low loss RF cables, and omnidirectional antennas at the transmitter and receiver ends. The transmitter and receiver heights were fixed at 1.5 m. A program script was written for the VNA to measure 10 consecutive sweeps: each sweep contains 601 frequency sample points with spacing of 0.167 MHz to cover a 100 MHz band centered at 2.4 GHz.
